(August 27, 2012)… The 2012 National Lacrosse League Champion Rochester Knighthawks announced their partnership today with AES Winter Lacrosse to provide elite “World Champions” teaching for the youth at Six Nations and the surrounding communities.
Arrow Express Sports will hold its winter box lacrosse leagues from Monday, October 8th to Sunday, March 3rd at the facility in Hagersville, Ontario on Second Line Road. The league offers kids an opportunity to play at one of the premier practice and exhibition facilities for the NLL and the Knighthawks. Rochester Knighthawks players who will serve as instructors in the winter league include Mike Accursi, Matt Vinc, Cory Vitarelli, Craig Point and Alex “Kedoh” Hill.
“I am going to try to motivate the children by letting them know what it takes to get to the pros,” said Knighthawks forward and NLL veteran Craig Point. “I love passing on my knowledge to younger upcoming stars. It will make me proud to know what I've done for them as a role model in helping them reach their goals.”
Hill, who recently won the Major Series Lacrosse Rookie of the Year Award, cannot wait to take part in the league there at his home arena. This summer, the former Six Nations Arrows star has continued his success with the senior “A” Chiefs.
“My motivation is my passion for the game. My parents always taught me to give back and share what I have,” said Hill. “This is my opportunity to teach the kids what I know about the game and have fun in the process.”
Arrow Express Sports, which owns and operates the Knighthawks and Hamilton Nationals, will run the league for boys from Tyke to Intermediate Divisions. The cost is $200 per player. Girls can participate in an outdoor league. Their cost is $150 per player, and the age range is 7 to 15 years old. The league will be beneficial to the kids as well as the professional players.
“I've always loved having a good backyard game with the youth when I get the chance,” said Hill. “For me, it is rewarding to see the kids having fun playing lacrosse.”
To register for the winter leagues, please call 905-768-2225 or email arrowexpresssports@gmail.com. Arrow Express Sports is looking for coaches in all divisions.
