WATCH HENHAWK IN THE PRESIDENT'S CUP
08/28/2012 - 10:59am

(August 28, 2012)… Rochester Knighthawks goalie Jake Henhawk has the St. Catharines Saints back in the Senior “B” President's Cup Playoffs. Last night, he led the Saints to a 13-6 opening victory over the Rocky View Knights en route to Game MVP honors.

Today, Henhawk leads the Saints against the Onondaga Redhawks in a 1:00 p.m. (MT) showdown in Spruce Grove, Alberta. Lacrosse fans can catch the game online at http://clapresidentscup.ca/webcasts/.

“We started out little slow against the champ from Alberta, but once we got the feel of how they played our offence took control,” said Henhawk. “We play Onondaga today and they are coming off a huge loss so we have to be ready to go and play Saints’ lacrosse. If we do that, we should be good, but every game is a must-win game because top two teams play for the Cup.”

Henhawk helped St. Catharines defend its Ontario Championship this summer and earn a return trip to the Presidents Cup. Last year, the Six Nations product backstopped the Saints to a bronze medal, while earning First Team All-Star honors and the Travis Solomon Outstanding Goaltender Award. He returned to the Saints this June after winning his first Champion’s Cup with the Rochester Knighthawks after a career season in which he registered a career-best 11.18 goals-against average.

Today’s game against the Redhawks not only features Henhawk, but other past and present NLL players. The Saints have players like Stu Hill and Geoff McNulty, Andrew Potter. The Onondaga Redhawks have Brett Bucktooth, Ron Cogan, Pete Benedict, Neal Powless and Andy Spack. Onondaga opened the tournament Monday with a 28-5 loss to the St. Regis Braves.
